How much does skip hire cost?

Skip hire prices vary on location and size. The most popular sizes for a skip are 4 and 8 cubic yard skips. These are also known as ‘builder skips’. They are often seen across the country on driveways and streets. We have put together a price list which includes an average cost per town/city based on the assumption that the skip is kept on a driveway or private land. If you require a skip to be placed on a public highway, you will require a skip permit license. These range in price per council from £15 to £180+ per 14 day period. If you require the skip to be in a parking space, you will also need to pay for a daily parking suspension.

Skip Hire Cost – Common Questions

Are there any additional costs?

When hiring a skip through Reliable Skip, we make sure that all costs are fully transparent. We do not charge additional fees for collection or for cancellations more than 48 hours in advance. Any last minute cancellations may incur an administration charge, depending on the skip provider.

It’s important to consider the location of where the skip is being placed and whether this may require a skip permit or a parking bay suspension. These costs can often exceed the value of the skip hire and we urge you to check with your local authority. before placing an order.

Do I have to pay for a license or a permit?

If you are planning for your skip to be placed on a public road, highway or parking space (even if you have a parking permit!) you will require a Skip Hire Permit. In London for example, the costs per borough starting at £15.97 per 14 days. In the event that a parking bay is being used, you will need to pay for the suspension. Please note, we are unable to guarantee your requested spot will be the location approved by the local council and once charged, permits and suspensions are non-refundable.

Are prices normally quoted with or without VAT?

Any larger skip hire company will likely be VAT registered and depending on the focus of their business (residential/commercial) may list their prices including or excluding VAT. At Reliable Skip, we ensure any VAT registered skip companies are clearly listed with both prices, so you can make an informed decision.

Are timescales guaranteed?

Whilst we do not guarantee timescales, over 95% of our skip hires are delivered on time. Due to the nature of transport, on rare occasions heavy traffic or bad weather may incur a day. In the event of this, your skip truck driver will contact you to inform you of the delay and provide a revised timescale.

How can I get the best price for a skip?

We regularly monitor the price of local skip hire companies in your area to ensure that we are offering a highly competitive price. To get the best price for your skip, make every effort to ensure that the skip can be delivered with easy access and where possible, arrange for it to be delivered on a private road or driveway to avoid incurring permit costs.
