Skip Hire Terms of Business
- Containers must not be moved once they have been delivered to your location.
- Only approved items may be placed in the container as outlined on our skip details. If your skip if found to contain any item(s) which are not permitted, a charge for disposal of each item will be applied in addition to a £60+VAT administrative fee which shall be due for payment immediately.
- Explicitly excluded items include fridges, freezers, tyres, TVs, computer monitors, batteries, asbestos, food/medical items, artificial grass, carpet, fuels, solvents, paint, oils or other liquids, corrugated fibre cement roofing sheets, wet waste (including clay), man-made slate/tiles, mattresses or any hazardous materials (glass, plasterboard, any wood from a pre 2007 building as part of the RPS-250 withdrawal, railway sleepers, telegraph poles or items which in our opinion may contain a hazardous substance such as asbestos). A general guide is available here. Restricted items found during disposal of your waste will incur an additional charge per item from £50-150+VAT depending on the item. Items such as liquids or oils may permanently damage the skip which will incur a charge to replace or treat/repaint the skip which may be in excess of £800+VAT for a replacement skip. If you are unsure, please contact us before placing the item in your skip. A charge for upholstered furniture items which may contain Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) may incur an additional charge.
- Any skips contaminated with plasterboard will no longer charged as a flat fee and instead will be charged on a haulage and tonnage rate for the disposal. This is in addition to a contamination and sorting fee from £250+VAT. Haulage fees vary by postcode from £150+VAT to £250+VAT and tonnage fees vary from £120+VAT to £220+VAT per tonne and will be subject to pricing at the current rate.
- Weight restrictions apply on any skips 6 yards or larger which are not suitable for extra heavy loads including soil, rubble, concrete or hardcore and will be rejected if in breach of this condition and will incur a wasted journey charge of £85+VAT to £110+VAT. Densely packed skips of 6 yards or higher may be too heavy to pick up. In this case, excess waste will then need to be removed from the skip.
- Any container which requires being placed on a public highway requires a skip permit. Permits are applied for through us, via your local council. They are an additional (non-refundable) charge and the approved placement location is not guaranteed. You must not place an order for a skip prior to making payment in advance for the permit and receiving direct instruction from us to proceed to book.
- If a container cannot be delivered or collected due to a missing permit or insufficient access to the delivery location will incur an administration fee of £85+VAT to £110+VAT. Any imagery supplied or requested of the delivery location does not guarantee suitable access and will incur a wasted journey charge of £85+VAT to £110+VAT if we are unable to deliver or collect the skip. The driver’s decision is final as to whether the skip can be delivered or collected legally and safely at the desired location.
- Reliable Skip Limited shall not be held liable for any penalties, charges or other liabilities as a result of the customer failing to comply with the Highways Act 1971 or any local council restrictions related to the hire. The customer shall be liable for these charges plus a £25+VAT administration fee.
- Reliable Skip Limited reserves the right to request any supporting documentation in relation to council permits and suspended parking bay authorisations.
- The responsibility of maintaining an active skip hire permit and/or parking bay suspension, where required, is the responsibility of the customer at all times and is non-refundable once applied for.
- In a situation where it is required for ours or our supplier vehicles to leave a public road and enter private property to deliver or collect a container, the customer is responsible for any claims, damages or expenses to the vehicle(s), private property and/or container(s) which may be sustained whilst on the property. The customer accepts full responsibility for ensuring that there is sufficient space to deliver and collect the skip on private property and the grounds/driveway are suitable to sustain the weight of a very heavy lorry (including vehicle support struts).
- Additionally, the property of customers or third parties or personal injury to the customer or any third parties and customer indemnifies us and our suppliers against all claims, demands and costs however this arises.
- Customers are liable for any loss or damage incurred to the containers or private property whilst on hire to them, regardless of cause, with the exception of general wear and tear and gross negligence.
- The customer shall also fully indemnify Reliable Skip Limited in respect of any claims for injury to persons or property arising out of the use or delivery/collection of the containers whilst on hire to them, however caused.
- Customers must adhere to the Highways Authority codes, in particular the provision of lamps and traffic codes if containers are sited in a location which poses a risk or is likely to be a contributing cause to any damage or injury to third parties during the hours of darkness.
- If Reliable Skip is made aware that the customer may not be in compliance with the terms and conditions, we reserve the right to remove the container immediately, without notice or refund.
- Cancellations within 48 hours of your chosen delivery date are non-refundable under any circumstances. Cancellations outside of 48 hours will incur a £20+VAT administrative charge.
- The customer acknowledges that the delivery and collection of skips are not guaranteed and are subject to various factors that may impact the timely performance of the service, and therefore, the customer agrees to hold Reliable Skip and it’s suppliers harmless and indemnify us against any claims, demands, liabilities, or expenses arising from such failure to deliver or collect a skip.
- Collection dates are not supplied with a specific time slot and the date will be the earliest point at which we endeavour to collect the skip. Collection dates are not guaranteed. Failure to collect a skip on or after your chosen collection date will incur a wasted journey charge of between £85+VAT to £110+VAT.
- Extensions to hire periods and/or changes to pre-booked delivery or collection dates are subject to availability and are not guaranteed. Requests must be a minimum of 1 working day’s notice (Monday to Friday). Collections and/or changes to pre-booked collection dates outside of working hours (during weekends, outside of working hours, Christmas closure period or bank holidays) pre-booked for the next working day may incur a Cancellation Charge of £85+VAT to £110+VAT. An additional charge of £35-50+VAT per week, depending on the size will be applied. During busy periods, it may not be possible to offer an extension or change of your collection date. This does not affect the price or entitle you to a refund. Any requests to change the collection or delivery date are not accepted or confirmed until we have sent you confirmation in writing, via email.
- Any skips which are unable to be collected for any reason (eg. blocked access, overloaded or an extension beyond the pre-paid hire period) will be charged an additional hire fee of £25-50+VAT per week depending on the skip size.
- If the Container is delivered and upon inspection by the Customer within 24 hours of delivery, appears to be weakened or heavily damaged, the Customer must contact the Reliable Skip and provide a photograph via email. If the skip is deemed by Reliable Skip to be damaged beyond safe use, the Container will be replaced free of charge as soon as possible. The original Container must remain empty to be eligible for a replacement. This does not entitle you to a refund.
- Containers 15 yards or larger will be subject to a minimum £1000 holding deposit to cover any additional charges for restricted items. This charge will be collected on or prior to delivery of the container and refunded after the container has been collected.
- Customers are responsible for ensuring that the skip remains secure and are responsible for any items placed in the skip.
- All skips must be a level load and not filled higher than the height of the skip. Overloaded skips will incur a wasted journey charge of £85+VAT to £110+VAT depending on the location.
- Any requests to change the size of the skip after placing an order are not eligible for any discount codes.
- Images on our website of skip containers are for illustrative purposes only and skip measurements provided are approximate. Shapes and styles of containers may vary, however the cubic volume (yards) of waste which can be placed in the container will be as purchased.
- Wait and load services are subject to availability. Up to 15-45 minutes is included free of charge depending on your area and is billable in one hour blocks of £60+VAT per hour. For example, if the driver is waiting for 30 minutes after the free period, a 1 hour block would be charged.
