Is It Environmentally Friendly to Use a Skip to Dispose of Waste?

There is no doubt that hiring a skip is a great way of disposing of large amounts of waste. The great thing about them is that you can throw all of your waste into one single container and then leave it for someone else to worry about. Then, we come along and collect your waste before taking the necessary steps to sort through your waste to see what can be recycled and what cannot.

In decades gone by, people used to dispose of waste with very little thought, especially as much of the waste we disposed of went into landfill. Despite this, the world has changed and many of us no longer think that way and the same can be said for waste management companies. More than ever before, people are environmentally aware when it comes to waste and what they dispose of. Furthermore, there are now significant penalties in place for those who don’t dispose of waste the right way.In fact, the figures speak volumes as around 89% of people claim to recycle on a regular basis and that is because it has become a way of life. This is down to the fact that we now have to split our waste up in our homes so that it can be collected, so we have enhanced our knowledge at the same time. In addition to this, more people want to be able to recycle more with better services and more information about recycling because it is now recognised that landfill is not the solution that we are looking for.

What About The Role of Skips?

If you have a lot of waste to get rid of, then a skip is going to offer the convenience you are looking for, especially if it is mixed waste but one thing to remember is that it is an environmentally friendly way to dispose of waste. Martin, Regional Manager for our Skip Hire Reading branch, mentions:

“Often consumers assume that when a skip is emptied, a lot of the waste goes straight into landfill. In reality, it’s the last place a skip hire company wants the waste to go as it’s the most expensive route. At all of our branches, we ensure that if a material can be recycled and put to good use, it is.”

The reality is that everything we collect is sorted meticulously and using the latest techniques. This enables us to determine what waste can be reused, all of which is then taken to recycling facilities to be reused again. Furthermore, we also try to reduce the amount of distance that waste travels to reduce our environmental impact while we also make sure we know where our waste goes.

Recycling is hugely important because it helps to reduce the problem of pollution and prevents waste from finding its way to landfill. Along with this, where materials can be reused, they require less energy than that of raw materials which gives you even more of a reason to hire a skip to deal with your large volume of waste.

Still, a skip is a great solution because it’s not you that has to do all of the sorting. You can still throw it in (providing it meets our guidelines) and then leave us to handle it all. So, if you have a lot of waste to dispose of, it makes sense to do your bit and hire a skip because after all, it is an environmental way to get rid of waste.
